Strings of the Heart: Acoustic Healing in Myrtle Beach
Sep 01, 2019 02:45PM
Lynn and Jimmy Geddes Wolling
Consider attending a Hindustani classical music performance by Jimmy and Lynn Geddes Wolling from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on October 5 at Unity Myrtle Beach to aid in healing and reducing mental stress.
The Wollings’ performance, whose training began in Varanasi, India, will include an Indian classical composition called Raga Kirwani, assumed to have originated from the ancient Carnatic system of music. The scale is the same as the harmonic minor in Western music, with all seven notes meaning complete, played with sounds of melancholy and heartfelt, sentimental feelings of love and devotion, which is known to increase healing and reduce stress.
It’s been reported that benefits of this musical form include keeping your heart rate and blood pressure normal and also relaxing your mind. This energetic, but not very fast-paced classical music can be a perfect partner to boost one’s exercise routines as well.
Cost: $15. Location:1270 Surfside Industrial Park Dr., Surfside Beach. For more information, call 843-238-8516 or visit UnityMyrtleBeach.org. See ad, page 3.
